We All Laughed At Julie

Julie used to drink
I’d pick her up and carry her home
Slept on the couch

Julie used to sing
When she was cold, I’d give her my coat
Never a doubt

They laughed at your clothes
I laughed with them
Secretly clinching my fist

We traveled away
And dreamed about better times
And finished drinking our drinks
Together

There's something you’re hiding
Like a sun behind your eyes
I only catch glimpses of it
It makes it all worth while
All worth while

We all laughed at Julie
Your funny little poems in poor grammar
Scrambled emotions

Drunk in class
Foolishly thinking no one would notice your manners
With one eye open

You’re the world bottled in crystal glass
I love you
A true voice

I hope in the end you shone bright and shone long
A chance in the sand is better than none

There’s something you’re hiding
Like a sun behind your eyes
I only catch glimpses of it
It makes it all worth while
All worth while

There’s something you’re hiding
Like a sun behind your eyes
I only catch glimpses of it
It makes it all worth while

There’s something you’re hiding
Like a sun behind your eyes
I only catch glimpses of it
It makes it all worth while
